PE and Sport
Physical Education
At The Cambridge Primary School we are committed to providing our pupils with 2 hours (1 hour in Reception) of high quality PE each week. Within each year group units of study include: Athletics, Invasion Games, Striking & Fielding Games, Gymnastics and Dance – each unit is tailored to suit the age group.
As a school, we are committed to providing opportunities for children to engage in physical activity each and every day. Children are encouraged to sign up to a range of teacher and coach lead extra curricular clubs as well as having the chance to represent the school at many sporting events throughout the year. We work closely with the Hampshire School Games organiser and compete against other local schools in the Rushmoor area. Children also enjoy using our extensive outdoor resources during their break times which include basketball, table tennis, gym equipment and a purpose built running track.
Sports Premium Funding
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school headteachers.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this. See our report below, which outlines the impact of our spending and our intended impact of future spending.
